Provisional: AP is counted: the AP copy on WTOP and the Las Vegas Sun was opened and is dated Nov. 6; AP’s own page is blocked (403), so only its own-site publication date is unverified. A Washington Post North Carolina roundup could be only partly opened and is not counted, so the score is provisional. Other outlets were checked by Google News and Bing News headline search; ABC News returned no results.
The Associated Press called the U.S. House race in North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District for Republican Mark Harris on Friday, Nov. 6, according to AP copy carried by WTOP and the Las Vegas Sun. WTOP’s text reads: “Republican Mark Harris wins reelection to U.S. House in North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District.”
Harris is in his first term, The North State Journal reported. He faced Democrat Colby Watson and Green Party candidate Bo Whitehead, WFAE reported. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, The North State Journal quoted Harris as saying Watson had called him to concede.
The WTOP and Las Vegas Sun reports carry the same Associated Press race call and are treated as one reporting origin; Overlooked could not open AP’s own article page this run. Results are unofficial.
